More Award Success for Banksia NewQuay
MAB are thrilled to have been awarded the 2018 Urban Development Institute of Australia (Victoria Division) Award for High Density Development. Banksia now automatically qualifies for the UDIA’s National Awards to be held in Sydney at the end of March.
This comes at the end of a successful year for Banksia, winning four previous awards and shortlisted in another six including the prestigious World Architecture Festival held in Amsterdam this year.
In addition to the UDIA’s National Awards, Banksia is also eligible for the Property Council of Australia’s Innovation & Excellence Awards for Best Residential Development in 2019.
Banksia continues the successful collaboration between MAB and MCR -their previous collaboration ‘The Quays’ won a total of 11 awards including the 2014 UDIA (Victoria Division) High Density Development Award.
The uniquely Australian building has proven popular with the public as well as industry professionals, with over 700 people coming to see Banksia for themselves at Open House Melbourne this year.
“Banksia is a strong contemporary statement that responds beautifully to the Australian bush,” said renowned architectural writer, Stephen Crafti. “It’s a uniquely Australian expression of architecture.”
