Green spaces and waterfront living planned for NewQuay West
Melbourne property developer, MAB Corporation, presented the NewQuay West precinct plan at a community consultation session on 21 May 2015.
The proposal included plans for waterfront apartments creating approximately 2000 new residences across six developments, a linear park linking Quay Park and Ron Barassi Senior Park.
Due to open later this year, Ron Barassi Senior Park will provide sporting facilities and a playground for NewQuay and Docklands more broadly.
The proposed linear park will provide barbeque and picnic facilities, fitness stations and create a pedestrian link between Ron Barassi Senior Park and the upcoming NewQuay Park, totalling over 29,000 square metres of additional parkland at NewQuay.
“It’s an exciting time for NewQuay,” says David Allt-Graham, MAB’s General Manager of Residential. “With Monument Park opening last year and three more parks planned for the future there’s a strong focus on providing green spaces.”
The delivery of this changing landscape has allowed MAB the opportunity to reshape the remaining development land around these new facilities.
The response to the proposed plans and Ron Barassi Senior Park was generally well received.
“Most of our long term residents at NewQuay are delighted to see additional green spaces that will continue to cater to growth of the NewQuay community. These plans are aligned with MABs vision to deliver integrated art, architecture and livability.”
